Italcotto Covid-19 Safety Measures

A directive has recently been issued by the Department of Employment and Labour (dated 29 April 2020), which gives much needed guidance on what measures an employer would need to take to provide its employees with safety measures to protect against the risk of Covid19 exposure.

In order to ensure that both our employees and clientele enjoy the best possible protection in our retail and operational environment, Italcotto has instituted the following safety measures in line (and over and above) the prescribed safety standards as set out by the South African government:

  • Working hours will be initially limited from 9am-2pm
  • Staff capacity will be initially limited to 50% on duty at any given time
  • Site specific Covid-19 health and safety plan will be in place
  • Designated safety officer to be on site to implement and maintain safety plan
  • Daily temperature readings to be taken via infra-red laser thermometer
  • Face masks and medical gloves will be supplied to all employees
  • Hand sanitizers will be available for staff/clients and to regularly disinfect workstations/showroom display/pay-points (after every usage).
  • Any employees showing symptoms will be restricted from working and instructed to seek medical attention/self-quarantine
  • Workstations will be arranged to ensure that employees remain at least 1.5 meters apart & maintain same social distance from any clientele inside the store
  • No. of clients allowed to enter the store will be restricted and based on the m2 space available to ensure that applicable social distancing safety distances remain possible at all times
  • Any employees showing symptoms will be restricted from working and instructed to seek medical attention/self-quarantine
