Overton International Trade (Pty) Ltd was founded by the late Angelo Marchesini in 1986 applying his extensive experience gained in the textile, fashion industry and from establishing and managing the regional branch of a national ceramic tile supplier.
At the age of 60, Angelo did extensive market research on terracotta products and associated technologies and opportunities in the building industry and found a gap in the market for these products in Cape Town. Angelo’s love for style and the earthy, natural essence of clay roof tiles prompted him to re-introduce this product into the South African market. Italcotto is, still today, one of the largest importers and distributors of clay roof tiles in Southern Africa.
In 1995 the company was re-launched at the Italcotto Design Centre, under the trading name of “Italcotto”, and became a major importer and retailer of quality Italian wall, floor, roof tiles and Piazzetta Fireplaces in the Cape region.
The passion of the members of Italcotto has been driven by their enthusiasm to share exceptional products of beauty, style, quality, innovation and the latest technology with the South African market. For more than 33 years they have lived this passion into their work and transferred this enthusiasm to the trusted members of their staff. The members of the family, all specialists in their own disciplines, are a sound extension to the late Angelo Marchesini’s passion for being at the forefront of style, innovation and technology; with due consideration that quality and value are always key to any product being considered into the product range of the company.
In April 2019 , Italcotto opened a stunning new tile retail store in Durban Road, Tygervalley, offering the same exceptional products and service to the growing market of Cape Town’s Northern Suburbs.
The showroom includes tile , engineered wood flooring , vinyl and the revolutionary 2cm Architech pavers.
The new showroom also includes a Calore Fireplaces showroom showing all the latest wood , pellet and gas fireplaces from Italy, Spain and Portugal.
