Description
First developed in the late 19th century, the so-called Marseilles tile rapidly became popular especially for its simplicity as a covering for large roof areas thanks to its ease of laying and lower weight than other systems, and above all due to its ability to follow slightly arching roof tiles, making it applicable as roofing for factory and office buildings.
It is now one of the most widely used kinds of roofing: designed with special elements that fit together so that the tiles are overlaid to keep water out, and with staggered joints that ensure better drainage over a large surface area.
Industrie Cotto Possagno, a leader in the production of clay tiles, offers a complete line of Marseilles tiles in the classical red colouring, with all the features of resistance to atmospheric agents.
